About the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA)
AIA Reno Society
The Archaeological Institute of America is a non-profit organization founded in 1906 by an act of Congress to further archaeological investigation of the ancient Mediterranean and Near East. The AIA funds archaeological investigation in Europe, North Africa, and the Near East, as well as publishing the findings of such investigations in Archaeology magazine and the American Journal of Archaeology. More recently, the AIA has sought to broaden its interests to include prehistoric and historical archaeology from around the world, including Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa.
The Reno Society of AIA was founded in 2006 by Carola Naumer, Myles McCallum and Melissa Rothfus; the society was chartered by AIA in 2007. We are a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible. Visit the AIA's official website for more information.
